Education minister finds poor quality food served to students

Punjab Education minister O P Soni today made a surprise visit to a government senior secondary residential school for meritorious students here and found the quality of food being served to students not up to the mark.

Soni chided the school kitchen in-charge for preparing "poor" quality food for students. The minister ordered the DEO and school principal to constitute a committee of students who shall report directly to him about the quality and quantity of food.

Soni passed instructions to the concerned officials to terminate the contract of the caterer without any warning if the committee reported any deficiency in food. Upon complaint by students, the minister ordered the change of dinner time to 8 pm from 7 pm and ordered the warden to ensure that all the students were properly fed.
