Impact of mother tongue on learning of English

The world is developing in every field and is getting inter-connected through Globalization. Most of the country’s trade and work through using each other’s resources. What makes it possible? What is the means of communication for these official or unofficial interactions? The common platform that makes it possible for these countries and people to communicate is English language. India must keep up with the progress in the world in every field. Therefore, English is inevitable for our country.

The regional language and the impact of the mother tongue are too much on students especially in India. Teaching English language to these students is a difficult task to those students who have a great influence of their regional language. The students are not able to learn English properly as in the whole day school for 6 hours, they are learning English for only 30-45 minutes. These 45 minutes are too less as compared to the language they have been speaking throughout their life. That is why, this influence of their regional language has a huge impact on the students in developing their speech and verbal/written communication and so even after learning English, they are not thorough with the language.

Can you all suggest various ways to make the students more fluent in English communication which is the need of the hour?

08 Aug at 10:41 AM
Ravi Sankar Barpanda Conversely, countries like China, where English is not much used by the common man, have set examples of higher standards in all fields of human endeavor while preserving their culture, language and identity. Thus, it seems that a bilingual or a multilingual approach might be more effective.
