Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar on Thursday directed officials to expedite the process of uploading teacher-student data of all schools on the online portal-- SIMS.

The step aims to provide quality education to students by ensuring the required student-teacher ratio in all schools up to Class 12th, an official statement said here. Khattar, who was presiding over a meeting of Education Department here, said that the government has been working towards making the School Information Management System (SIMS) more transparent and updated.

It was decided during the meeting that the work of organising parents-teacher meeting in government schools would be entrusted to the District Institute for Education and Training (DIET). It was also informed that over 21,000 girl students have applied under the Chatra Parivahan Suraksha Yojana scheme, being implemented for providing free travel facility to girls from their home to their educational institutions. An amount of Rs 10 lakh each has been released to all District Education Officers (DEOs) under the scheme.

The government has already successfully implemented the online teachers transfer policy, he said. SIMS is a comprehensive Information Technology enabled system providing a complete database of all government schools in the state, highlighting staff strength, student-teacher ratio and other components.

While reviewing the SIMS, Khattar directed that the updated data of students and teachers, both class-wise and section-wise be made available on a single platform on a regular basis in a time bound manner. In addition, information about new admissions, dropouts and those leaving the school after completion of their studies should also be updated, he said.
